Resolution Medical Partners with Additive Manufacturing Innovator Carbon
In this time of rapid innovation within the fields of both engineering and medical devices, a local firm is advancing in both sectors. Resolution Medical is partnering with digital 3D Manufacturing company Carbon to apply their revolutionary technology to the medical field as Carbon’s first Midwest production partner focused solely on medical devices.
Additive manufacturing through Carbon provides a broad range of benefits, including greater speed, increased production capabilities, freedom to design and manufacture “un-moldable” parts at scale, new biocompatible materials and reduced overall costs.
Aside from the sheer technical advances that come along with this partnership, it speaks to the future of medical device development and manufacturing in the Twin Cities. Resolution Medical Founder and President, Shawn Patterson stated, “With the high density of medical device companies in the area, this state-of-the-art technology is not only important for us, but the local industry as a whole.”
Resolution Medical has initially secured three Carbon M2 printers, increasing the firm’s additive manufacturing capabilities. Using Carbon’s proprietary Digital Light Synthesisä technology, Resolution Medical can design, engineer, manufacture, and deliver end-use parts for medical devices and other projects.
“Our goal is to deliver true, scalable digital fabrication across the globe, enabling engineers to design and manufacture previously unmakeable products both economically and at scale,” said Dana McCallum, Head of Production Partnerships at Carbon. “Resolution Medical has a strong reputation for engineering excellence in the medical device industry, and we are thrilled to have them as a certified Carbon production partner.”
The growing firm has recently expanded into a new 36,000-square-foot manufacturing and development facility in Minneapolis in order to fulfill the needs of more clients interested in manufacturing and developing medical devices.
