AMFG launches Holistic Build Analysis Tool for 3D Printing Part Production

Formerly known as RP Platform, AMFG, a London-based additive manufacturing software company, has launched its latest software analysis tool for 3D printing workflow automation.

The Holistic Build Analysis tool, the latest addition to the AMFG’s Artificial Intelligence powered software platform, enables its users to predict how cost-effective a part will be to produce.

 Additive manufacturing productivity platforms

Founded in 2013, AMFG has supported the additive manufacturing process chain through it’s automated workflow management platform. This platform automates the key steps of an additive manufacturing process including quotation, workflow organization, product management, and post-production using AI.

With AI algorithms, AMFG’s platform can generate instant quotations and time scheduling for 3D printed parts, CAD file conversion (to .stl or other) and file repair. Furthermore, the program is capable of monitoring the build status of parts in progress while managing the post-production stage.

They have the power to focus engineers on benefit-driving activities, improving machine efficiency while minimizing administrative work and waste (materials, machine time etc.) across the process chain.

 No more nesting

With the Holistic Build Analysis tool manufacturers can assign parts to a model and instantaneously receive estimated of the build’s fill rates as a percentage. Using this data, manufacturers will be able to prioritize print production jobs based on deadlines, machine availability and the optimal part arrangement.

Prior to this, manufacturers used nesting software to achieve this data. Within additive manufacturing, nesting is commonly a time-consuming process, in which a collection of 3D files are sorted in 3D space to maximize the build volume.

“Many nesting software packages offer an iterative solution, requiring users to set time limits before the nesting process is completed,” explains Doerr.

“This is an incredibly time-consuming process, particularly if you merely need an estimate of how full your builds are for production scheduling purposes. [Now], our customers will be able to compare requested parts by volume and geometrical parameters to see where they fit best on the build.”

AMFG plans on further developing the Holistic Build Analysis tool so that it can offer part recommendations during the 3D printing process.

“Soon, [our] system will even be able to suggest which parts should be produced next, taking additive manufacturing another step closer to a fully automated, autonomous manufacturing future.”
