Stratasys’ New J720 3D Printer Gives Dental Labs Full-Color AM Capabilities

Stratasys is bringing its vivid AM capabilities to the dental industry with the release of the new J720 Dental 3D printer. The 3D printer, which is capable of over 500,000 color combinations and multi-material printing, will enable dental professionals to produce ultra-realistic patient-specific models with 1.75x the daily throughput of competing DLP and SLA dental 3D printers.

In 2016, Stratasys took color 3D printing to a new level with the introduction of the J750 3D printer. Not keen to rest on its laurels, however, the company has continued to push its color printing capabilities, showcasing diverse applications in a range of segments.

Evidently, the dental market—already a widespread adopter of 3D printing technologies—was a key segment for full-color 3D printing, as Stratasys has now released a new 3D printer dedicated to dental applications. The machine, designed for integration into dental labs, will enable faster turnaround times for ultra-realistic patient-specific models.

“Labs today operate in a very competitive space where differentiation counts on mastering the digital workflow and expanding into new products and services,” commented Barry Diener, Dental Segment Sales Leader at Stratasys. “The J720 Dental 3D printer is designed to change the game—allowing levels of speed, productivity and realism the market has never seen. This powers laboratories to meet the demands of a competitive market and push the boundaries of digital dentistry.”

Beyond its full-color capabilities, the new J720 3D printer also boasts 1.75x the throughput of competing dental DLP and SLA solutions and a higher print resolution. Stratasys adds that the 3D printer has the ability to print six materials simultaneously and has a large enough build tray to fulfill a range of applications in a single print job. One of the the primary applications for the machine will be to produce realistic treatment models to present to patients.
The full-color dental 3D printer, to be showcased at the upcoming LMT Lab Day in Chicago, is paired with Stratasys’ GrabCAD Print software, ensuring a seamless transition from CAD model to 3D printed part. Other features, such as Cloud connectivity, promote ease-of-use for technicians, offering remote monitoring capabilities, multiple printer control, and material consumption tracking.
